Amazon EKS Blueprints for Terraform
This project contains a collection of Amazon EKS cluster patterns implemented in Terraform that demonstrate how fast and easy it is for customers to adopt Amazon EKS. The patterns can be used by AWS customers, partners, and internal AWS teams to configure and manage complete EKS clusters that are fully bootstrapped with the operational software that is needed to deploy and operate workloads.

Amazon Has a Restricted License, Too
Amazon utilizes its own restricted, "source-available" license, allowing software use exclusively with AWS or Amazon platforms. Unlike other defensive licenses, Amazon's terms are more restrictive, limiting use only to its services. This approach, though limiting, can encourage more software visibility, benefiting both Amazon and its competitors in the long run.

Microsoft Reimagines Modern Application Deployment With Radius Platform
Microsoft's Azure Incubations team has introduced "Radius", an open-source platform designed to deploy and operate modern applications across Kubernetes, public cloud, and edge environments. Initially supporting Kubernetes, Azure, and AWS, with plans for Google Cloud Platform integration, Radius can be seen as a mini version of Azure functioning within a Kubernetes cluster. Architected by Mark Russinovich, CTO of Azure, it builds upon the extensibility of Azure, offering a control plane optimized for scalability and versatility. A distinguishing feature of Radius is its Universal Control Plane (UCP) which processes API requests and directs them to relevant resource providers like Azure or Kubernetes. Developers can use existing domain-specific languages, Azure Bicep and Terraform, to define applications, eliminating the need for a new markup language. Furthermore, Radius introduces "recipes", enabling developers to use services without delving into their intricate details. Microsoft has ensured Radius' comprehensiveness from its inception, offering integration with various services and the Dapr open-source project. With features that cater to both developers and operators, Radius aims to simplify Kubernetes complexities, merging containerized applications with managed cloud services. If embraced by the Cloud Native Computing Foundation, Radius has the potential to become a significant player in the open-source ecosystem.

Vulnerability Management at Lyft: Enforcing the Cascade - Part 1
Lyft has developed a vulnerability management program over two years, focusing on addressing OS and OS-package-level vulnerabilities in services running on Kubernetes. Using a graph-based approach powered by cartography, they identify vulnerabilities in container images and understand the dependency relationships between them. This system allows for automated fixes and reduces the workload on individual engineers.

If you do infrastructure at home too, this is a fun and very interesting podcast of tools and technologies for your home, smart doorbells, open source domotics and more. Thanks, Giovanni for sending this.
Home Assistant
If you want to bring together your smart devices at home, HA is probably the best tool. I have one set up on a RPI4 and I am having fun with it. At the moment I have a motion sensor, door sensor, doorbell, camera, and thermostat.
