Sending AWS Lambda Logs to an Observability Service Like Datadog or New Relic
If you're sitting on a surplus of funds, you might consider dispatching AWS Lambda Logs to an observability service such as Datadog or New Relic. Of course, the primary intent isn't to squander money but enhance your system's visibility. Nevertheless, the initial experience can often result in a surprising "oops" moment when you come face-to-face with the monthly invoice.
Red Hat Has Finally Given CentOS 7 a Cloud Upgrade Plan
CentOS Linux 7, the community-supported distribution derivative of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), is set to reach its end-of-life (EOL) on June 30, 2024. It seems that there is no simple way to migrate a cloud server, but if you are using an immutable server, you can move the server to use another OS and build a new image.

The Ticking Time Bomb of Observability Expectations
A trend I've observed among many teams is the contemplation of an observability strategy that quantifies every aspect and employs ubiquitous SaaS tools. This approach, while comprehensive, tends to impose a substantial cognitive load on operators, not to mention the significant financial expenses involved.

Experimental Patches For Rust-Written Linux Network Drivers
Over the weekend, a fresh batch of patches started the preliminary work for implementing Rust abstractions in Linux network device drivers, thus enabling the use of Rust for developing new network drivers. This also includes a dummy Rust network driver.
A veteran kernel developer, Fujita Tomonori, unveiled these patches on Sunday. They provide Rust abstractions for network device drivers and an initial Rust dummy driver to aid in the review of this nascent code. However, no actual hardware device driver for Rust in the networking subsystem has been released yet.
