OpenStack Exceeds 40 Million Cores in Production As Users Document Explosive Growth Among Environments of All Sizes
I thought OpenStack was going down in popularity because of containers and Kubernetes and most of the companies are using public Clouds, but it seems OpenStack is doing well. I am happy to hear that since it adds more choice to the near monopoly of public clouds.

Livin’ Kubernetes on the (Immutable) Edge with Kairos Project
The article provides a summary of the changes we had from Ansible, Chef, and Puppet to using immutable servers, but it argues that something is still missing: we should be free to use a node like any other app on a container, just publishing upgrade and rolling that changes. This has been addressed by projects like CoreOS and not Talos, but it seems they want to use the containers for security scanning and other related system operations, for instance. Kairos is similar to Talos, FlatCar, and K3OS, but they say that: 'Kairos is distribution-agnostic, Open Container Initiative (OCI)- based and cloud-init first'.

From Postgres to Amazon DynamoDB
My point of view is that instead of sharding they decided to use DynamoDB. But there are solutions for automatic sharding like Citus Data.

How We Built Fly Postgres
This is a rather interesting post about how fly.io is running a PostgreSQL-managed hosting solution. Since they are using Consul (they are using Nomad to run the infrastructure) they decided to use Stolon, which is a Postgres manager written in Go and is integrated with Consul.
